Rebecca Kelly of SEOmoz discussed linkbaiting this morning with Cameron Olthuis and Brent Csutoras at SMX Social Media this morning. Something she said gave me pause. She said, “People like to link to things. They like to share.”
I like to link to things, but for different reasons, depending upon the link. The links to the three speakers above are so they see my post, visit, vote and perhaps link back to me. Yes, that’s sharing, but the ulterior motive of getting a link back exists.
So join the exploration of socia media with me and tell me why you link.

Hello Jason, Great post plus a Digg
Like most, I kind of want something in return. But I think it all comes down to why you have a website in the first place. Those that have websites for Business purposes or making money in some sort, want the return link and SEO benefit.
Those that just have sites for themselves and is not about an income stream, will link to Share and point to references.
Knowing the value of links and how hard they can be to come by, those in it for business are rare to just give them away freely.
Just my 2 Cents ( or adsense click
