Hey Mari,

Certainly there can be an overtone of a dating atmosphere at Mojo. When it first launched it almost had that vibe because, as Chuck says in the video, he used a lot of Maxim magazine to inspire terminology and what-not and they didn't know how to do people/friend search well, so they went on dating site setups.

I was even under the impression it started as a dating site, so I even had that impression.

What I've learned about Mojo (I'm on LouisvilleMojo.com) is that it is what you make it. There are 50-somethings talking about book club and knitting, there are 20 somethings looking for party crowd folks and so on. It's all about how you weed through the friends and contacts. It's no more or less stalker-ish than MySpace, it's just hyper-local so the elements there who might be looking for a good time think it's more of a possibility than it really is.

At the end of the day, though, you can only fit in so many social networks. If local is what you're looking for, the Mojos are pretty strong.

Thanks for the feedback.

I was listed on LexingtonMojo for a few months not long after it got started. I deleted my account when I started getting stupid "watch my webcam" comments / e-mails and other things I'm not going to mention in a public post. :/ Maybe the system has improved since then, but I'm wary.
