Here’s To Knowing Your Audience

The first rule of communications, and thus the first rule of social media, is to know your audience. While I can draw anecdotal conclusions about you from comments, reaction, in-bound links and more, I don’t really have a whole lot of information about you.

Because I’m going through the thought process of a reorganization and redesign of Social Media Explorer, I’d like to zero in on you and your expectations of the content you find here. Feel free to offer as much or as little as you’d like in the comments, but please take a moment to answer this question so I can get a better understanding of what type of content we should focus on:

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Thanks for the input and for continuing to read Social Media Explorer. You make my day, everyday.

  • Interesting ramifications here regarding the echo chamber and consultants talking to consultants.

I'm starting to feel the mutual admiration society among social media types is getting to be like physicians. They only hang out together, and can only talk about doctor stuff.

I wonder how the answer to this question would have been different had you asked it a while ago, before you and this blog "Went Hot" as they say on Sphinn?
  • For me personally is more somewhere in between the second and third options. Someone who is relatively new to the social media world and how to apply it for web start-ups with relatively low financing and budget.
  • Interesting so many feel they are qualified to counsel others. Perhaps that choice is a bit loaded. I wonder if they feel they are in a professional position to counsel and actually charge for their advice on social media. Now that might be a question to ask that group.

While I blog about social media, especially twitter, I don't think I would want to charge for it right now. Of course if you are to include blogging as a social media tool, we are doing that now in our company G2 Web Media. Thanks for another great post and a must subscribe to blog.
  • Thanks Jason! I am going to try this with my readers as well.

I wish there was a gray option between the lowest two options. I think I get it.
