How To Throw A Great Tweet-Up

by · October 15, 2010

For the last three years, I’ve hosted a Tweet-up at Blog World & New Media Expo in Las Vegas. No, it has never been an “official” Blog World party, but Rick Calvert and the BWE organizers have always come and since it didn’t typically interfere with the official goings on, have appreciated my efforts in getting folks together for a little fun.

10 More Reasons You Should Come To Blog World

by · September 11, 2009

Finding a conference that focuses on new media, social media, Web 2.0 and the like isn’t hard. They’re everywhere. Finding a good one, though, can be challenging, especially if you haven’t been to any for comparison. Having been to a bunch of them in the last three years or so, I have my own opinions about what makes a conference good, bad or indifferent. This year, I got to put those opinions to good use.

One of, if not the, best conferences for social media types on the planet is Blog World & New Media Expo. Rick Calvert and crew have consistently put on a great show with interesting speakers, engaging topics and ample opportunity to network and cross over your connections into industries you never thought possible. (I know several military bloggers. Who’d a thunk it?)

This year’s event is October 15-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the lineup (to be announced soon) is going to help make the event bigger and better than ever before. Last year, I presented several topics as a speaker at Blog World. This year, I wanted to be more involved — if that’s humanly possible. It is.

Blog World Expo Friday: Planning & Payoff

by · November 9, 2007

Brogan and Owyang Orchestrate GeniusI would have thought it difficult to overshadow my excitement for my afternoon session at Blog World Expo on Friday. I’ve been looking forward to the social media strategy session featuring Jeremiah Owyang and Chris Brogan for a month. But my morning session and afternoon keynote bookended probably the coolest conference day I’ve ever experienced. From getting the scoop on blog analytics to listening to Mark Cuban talk about his experience blogging (not included in my recap, but available on other folk’s blogs), I had a blast, learned a lot and networked a lot more.
