Solutions Stars Video Conference Helps Small Businesses, Entrepreneurs

Next Wednesday, I’ll participate in a video conference from Network Solutions called the Solution Stars Video Conference. From 1 p.m. ET until about 3:30 p.m. ET, users can log in and watch videos and live discussions featuring 32 people Network Solutions calls, “the world’s leading business and marketing experts.”

They forgot the tagline … “and Jason Falls.” Heh.

The point of the conference is to help coach small business owners and entrepreneurs on how the Internet can benefit their business. Nine content areas will be highlighted with video vignettes, including:

  • Building Web Presence
  • The Social Opportunity

What The Social Media Group-Livingston Split Doesn’t Mean

I was disappointed to hear that management styles and cultural differences led to the split of what was the first social media agency consolidation today when Maggie Fox of the Social Media Group announced the acquisition of Geoff Livingston’s Livingston Communications wouldn’t take place. The partnership had the potential to provide the world with a unique, international social media practice that put a test to all sorts of collaboration theories. From the video below and Maggie’s post, you can see the realization that the partnership wasn’t going to work out as ideally as once thought seems to sit well with everyone.

Social Media Group Acquires Livingston Communications

While breaking news isn’t the central focus of Social Media Explorer, we caught wind of this story a bit before the rest of the world.

[flickr style="float: left"]photo:2676215559[/flickr]Maggie Fox’s Social Media Group has agreed in principle to acquire Geoff Livingston’s Livingston Communications and The Buzz Bin, one of the top social media and public relations blogs in the U.S. The purchase will make SMG the world’s largest independent social media marketing and communications firm and will be completed in August. SMG will now have offices in Toronto, Calgary and Washington, D.C. Livingston will become Executive Vice President, Americas and continue to head the Washington office.
