Five Ways To Make Movember Last

by · November 29, 2010

As bad ass as I think the Fu Manchu look is on me, I’m glad Movember is winding down. As you know, I shaved my goatee for the first time in over a decade on Nov. 1 to commemorate Movember – an international awareness and fundraising effort calling on men everywhere to start November clean shaven and grow a mustache as a ribbon for men’s health. When folks ask about your lip sweater, you take that opportunity to remind them to get checked for prostate and testicular cancer.

It’s Movember. I’m Naked. Please Get Checked.

by · November 1, 2010

It’s officially Movember, a now annual awareness takeover of the month of November by participating men everywhere who wish to raise awareness among men (and those who care about them) about prostate health and prostate cancer. Movember helps people spread the word that prostate cancer will kill 32,000 men in 2010 alone; that typically lazy or ignorant men (like me) need to be proactive about prostate health and ask their doctor for an examination. And that we need to share the concern and threat of prostate cancer to other men who may not know what Movember is.

Shave My Goatee For Male Cancer Research

by · October 29, 2009

A funny thing happened on Twitter last night. David Armano and I got into a (light hearted and fun) discussion about the two of us being sexy bitches. (I know … silly, but bear with me here.)

Somehow the notion of me shaving my goatee to raise money for a good cause came up. So, I’ve decided to support Movemeber, the male cancer awareness movement, by pledging to you that if we can raise $1,000.00 by Nov. 15, which I will donate to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, I will shave my goatee. Sure, it’s a small personal sacrifice (I’ve had my goat since roughly 1977), but it’s for a good cause. Click below and help us raise money for a great cause.
