Targeting Influencers: A Case Study With Chevy Volt

by · March 17, 2010

I don’t write about cars. I don’t really even write about gadgets. But I’m writing about the Chevy Volt electric car today. Why? Because the folks at Chevy are using influencer targeting as a method to get the word out about their car. No, I’m not succumbing to the power of a good pitch. The car is cool and there’s a fun video below featuring Robert Scoble and Guy Kawasaki that will show you some of that. I want to share the influencer outreach approach they’re using as an example of good PR and interaction with the social media space.

7 Ways to Avoid Being a Social Media Clone

I was sitting in a meeting a few days ago and made a statement on how it would be nice if someone could clone me and then send my clone to attend my next meeting. It seemed comical at the moment and everyone chimed in on how productive it would be if they had their own clone as well. Who wouldn’t like to have a personal clone to sit in at meetings, attend jury duty and take care of basic responsibilities? Social Media Influencers Are Not Celebrities

A-list bloggers have an awfully bad habit of blowing smoke up each other’s asses. I’m probably guilty of it, too, though I don’t consider myself an A-lister, but for chrissakes people, you’re not celebrities so stop acting like them.

Saturday SXSW Social Media Exploration

by · March 8, 2008

Saturday brought forth another great day of learning, networking and fun at South by Southwest (SXSW). It started with a social media breakfast that, because of the crowded restaurant and waiting list for seats, forced me to grab three random people I didn’t know to join me at my table. The result was three new contacts in the web world and some great stories.
