Six Questions To Jump-Start Your Content Marketing Plan

Funny how all the social media pundits were screaming, “Content is King!” from rooftops as far back as there were social media pundits. If you heard that line once in advice, conference talks or webinars from 2005-2008, you heard it 10,000 times. Unfortunately, most of those very content-as-king promoters never put the words “content” and “strategy” together in the same sentence and businesses suffered as a result.

“Ya know … just, like, ummmm … write cool stuff, ya know?”

The Thirst For Learning Social Media

The precedent for inaugural gatherings of local Social Media Club chapters, at least from my anecdotal gatherings, is to invite a bunch of people, open the doors and see who shows up. Last night, my friend Todd Earwood and I did that in Louisville. We emailed several folks in the market we thought might be interested, started a Facebook group, posted a few blog entries talking about it and crossed our fingers.

Taking Louisville’s Web Community Off-Line

We talk a lot in the social media space about building communities. I’ve long had the theory that the organizations, corporations, brands and even individuals who will survive the ebb and flow of the Internet as a business are the online communities we can migrate off-line. For it is there, with real people, face-to-face, that a higher value can come from a community.

Louisville just so happens to be a blossoming community of social media thinkers, internet marketers, web geeks, dynamic developers and so on. If some of you big city folk are skeptical of us in the “aw, shucks” states, here’s a brief list of what Louisville has to offer in terms of social media talent:
