Stelzner’s Launch Presents Solid Ideas For Business Success

by · July 1, 2011

Over the weekend I came to a near record in minimal time spent to read an entire book, cover-to-cover. Michael Stelzner’s Launch: How To Quickly Propel Your Business Beyond the Competition is one of those books I was excited to get in the mail for a couple reasons. First, Mike is a friend and seeing a friend’s hard work come to fruition in something tangible like a book is a good feeling. Almost as importantly, though, I knew the book would have some good ideas in it. Social Media Examiner, Mike’s blog, and his subsequent online events have kicked everyone’s ass, including mine, in the last couple years. So I wanted to see how many secrets he would share.

7 Ways To Master the Fear of Social Media

by · May 18, 2011

Back in the 1990s, Intel CEO Andy Grove had a famous slogan: “Only the paranoid survive.”  He meant that companies (and people) had to constantly be ready to change, quickly, and adapt-or get crushed.

I had a lot of respect for Grove (I worked for Intel in the 1990s), but that thinking doesn’t work when it comes to social media. I’ve never met a successful paranoid blogger (someone who was scared to blog, but did anyway).

Yet, truth is many people are outright scared to blog or participate in social media activities. You can’t blame them. Their boss might frown on it. They may not be good writers. They may have little time.

Get First-Hand Social Media Expertise At Social Media Examiner

by · October 12, 2009

Today marks the launch of a new social media online magazine called Social Media Examiner. Michael Stelzner, who authored the awesome Social Media Marketing Industry Report, has put together a roster of awesome contributors, including Mari Smith, Denise Wakeman, Chris Garrett and more. Interviews with other notable social media thinkers and practitioners like Deb Micek and Dan Zarrella are among the early offerings as well. I will be offering up the occasional piece to support the effort, too.
