Explore Coming To Five Cities In 2012

by · December 12, 2011

Social Media Explorer is proud to let you all know that we’ll be bringing a new event to five cities in the U.S. in 2012. Dallas-Fort Worth, Nashville, Minneapolis, Irvine (Calif.) and Portland (Ore.) will host our new signature event, Explore. We developed the event after testing several approaches with our Exploring Social Media Business Summits in 2011. We’ve reshaped what we’re doing based on those learnings and have established Explore as our primary event product.

Welcome To The New Social Media Explorer!

by · November 21, 2011

We’re excited today to unveil the new Social Media Explorer. Take a look around and see some of the changes to the site and design. And let us know what you think.

Primarily, Aaron Marshall and I wanted to reposition the website to more accurately reflect Social Media Explorer as not just a blog, but an education and information products company. You can see in our new navigation bar up top that we more clearly call out what we do and how we can help customers. There’s even a New Here page that walks people through some questions so we can help get them closer to how we can help them.

Expanding Social Media Explorer

by · September 5, 2011

This week marks the fourth anniversary of Social Media Explorer, the blog. SME became a consultancy just over two years ago. Today, we enter a new era in what SME is as a company and its mission.

Last Thursday, Social Media Explorer officially acquired TechSMO, the consultancy of Aaron Marshall, another Louisville-based digital marketing consultant. Aaron is now SME’s chief product officer. While not wire-service news in the mergers and acquisitions world, we’re excited about taking Social Media Explorer from a consultancy to a company. And we’ve put some more definition to what we are. See more press release-type info with our release.

Welcoming Efficient Frontier and Context Optional To SME

by · August 2, 2011

You may notice a new advertisement over on the sidebar at Social Media Explorer this month. Efficient Frontier, a company focused on Facebook advertising management for enterprise companies, and Context Optional, a leading enterprise social marketing platform, have combined their talents to offer an optimized media impact solution for companies, perhaps like yours. They’ve sponsored Social Media Explorer this month to make sure you knew about what they do.

For large companies wishing to not only target specific audiences focused on engaging and sharing social content, reach those audiences with relevant advertising and social messages and start to reach that relevance bullseye (see Mark Smiciklas’s post this morning detailing that), the duo offers an interesting set of solutions.

SME’s Pass Winner Soaks Up BlogWorld

by · May 27, 2011

We knew we were picking the right person to receive our free, full pass to BlogWorld & New Media Expo a few weeks ago when we chose Justin Sullivan. A home remodeler diagnosed with rheumatic fever and left to face a career unable to perform the taxing, physical tasks his profession requires, Justin was hoping to learn and grow into a role as a marketing person for his family’s remodeling business. But he didn’t have the experience or training to dive right in.

A Flurry Of Activity For Social Media Explorer

by · May 9, 2011

The next three weeks or so are going to be incredibly busy for me. But that normally means I’m going on the road and I get a chance to meet many of you in person, see you again if we’ve already met and perhaps even hang out for a while and have some valuable off-line social networking. Because there’s just so much going on this month, I wanted to spell it all out here and make sure you didn’t miss me if I’m coming to your town.

Sprucing Up Social Media Explorer

by · December 3, 2009

Welcome to the new design for Social Media Explorer. I know, it doesn’t look all that different, but I needed to put a new coat of paint on the walls and move some furniture around.

Since the majority of you reading this might be interested (not many first time visitors or newcomers will care), I thought I’d tell you a bit about the changes and why. Perhaps it can inspire some ideas in rethinking your own blog or website. If you don’t care much, just skip this post and thanks for stopping by.

The Power of New

by · July 24, 2009

This was going to be a difficult post to write. Then I decided to emphasize the new, not the old.

I set out next week on a new venture. New because a new professional challenge beckoned me. New because a tired mind begged me. New because too many voices, only a few of them my own, demanded it.

sme-logo-for-black-bgrdBeginning Monday, I am Jason Falls, Principal of Social Media Explorer LLC, a communications consultancy. My services will be available to clients looking for senior level strategy and consultation for their social media, public relations, marketing and communications efforts. I will no longer be officially affiliated with Doe-Anderson, though I will continue to work with them on selected projects and, without hesitation, refer companies to them.

Here’s To Knowing Your Audience

by · September 30, 2008

The first rule of communications, and thus the first rule of social media, is to know your audience. While I can draw anecdotal conclusions about you from comments, reaction, in-bound links and more, I don’t really have a whole lot of information about you.

Because I’m going through the thought process of a reorganization and redesign of Social Media Explorer, I’d like to zero in on you and your expectations of the content you find here. Feel free to offer as much or as little as you’d like in the comments, but please take a moment to answer this question so I can get a better understanding of what type of content we should focus on:
