We Don’t Give Thanks Enough

by · November 24, 2011

Honestly, I get really tired of Thanksgiving before it ever happens. Starting roughly last Friday for most people, but as far back as Halloween for others, you starting seeing the “I’m thankful for …” posts on Facebook and the occasional Tweet. It builds to a crescendo on or about Wednesday of this week and certainly becomes all you see online Thanksgiving morning. By the time the actual day happens, I’m bored with the meme and want something better from a content consumption perspective.

Giving Thanks

by · November 24, 2009

Today is the second annual celebration of Tweetsgiving. The initiative raised money to build a classroom in Tanzania last year. The effort is expanding this year, but will again benefit the same school in Tanzania, among other initiatives driven by Epic Change, the organizing body, and participating folks who wish to drive donations or attention to their own causes.

Thanks For The Influence

by · November 21, 2007

Thanksgiving is one of the few times a year I pause from my normal routine of sarcasm and savor moments, memories, friends and family. I suppose that’s the point of it all, but it’s easy to take things for granted and “suffer” through another holiday with annoying family members.

Water RippleSo, surprising to those who know me, being tagged by Ike Pigott in Kami Hyuse’s “Thanks for the Influence” meme is a welcome project as the holiday approaches.

And for the record, I have been promoted from eighth generation meme tag-ee to second generation (Kami started, tagged Ike, who tagged me.) so I’m moving up in the world. For that, I am thankful!

Thanksgiving, Daily Idea Style

by · November 21, 2007

Most of you know I don’t have much spare time. What little I do have normally is spent with my son, Grant, who is (I’m convinced) the reason I was put on earth. However, I do have a lot of fun working on The Daily Idea with Todd Earwood and Rob May, (and Jay and Chad and Nikki, too.) even occasionally making a cameo appearance.

Today’s Daily Idea, though, features a certain handsome portly man as the man-on-the-street interviewer. We wanted to have fun with the holiday and give everyone a little chuckle so Todd let me just be me and interview people. (I can assure you he edited heavily.) Enjoy!
