10 Tips To Hosting Better Events with Social Media

by · November 4, 2010

Living in the Silicon Valley there are always events to attend. It’s not unusual to spend a day or two a month at a developer’s conference, networking event or a social media marketing summit of some kind. I recently broke my own personal record and attended three conferences in the span of six days. I presented and sat on a panel at the SocialBizWorld conference, attended BizTechDay and then the PayPal X developers conference.

Online Marketing Tips from the Farmer’s Market

by · September 7, 2010

My wife and I have been attempting to hit the local farmer’s market every Sunday. Our intention is to eat healthier and support some local businesses. This last Sunday marked our second trip and being quite the “people watcher” I had a few observations that struck me as having similarities to how marketing on the web works. For instance, compare the throngs of people browsing the stands of fresh produce to the eb and flow of the world wide web. I wasn’t ready.” Fortunately for you, I’ve learned through experience with several clients, not to mention my own blog, what those oft-forgotten areas are.

[flickr align="right" alt="Jason Falls blogging"]photo:2325051306 [(small)][/flickr]I’ve finally upgraded to Microsoft Office 2007 on my home machine. Its blog compatibility makes composing and posting quick and simple, though I still post as a draft and go to WordPress to fix little things. It’s not perfect, but it makes blogging better. While I normally don’t post things on the weekends, the new software gave me the idea of throwing out some tools I use to blog to give you some ideas if you’re looking to streamline your blogging activity.

BWE Vegas: How To Cash In Your Networking Chips

by · November 7, 2007

Aidan Jones’s “Shaking Hands”So I’m on the plane headed to Vegas for Blog World Expo and realize that, while I’ve made some preliminary plans to meet up with some cool folks, the craziness of next week (cheap foreshadowing, but teasing … bad Jason) has prevented me from making a solid plan of attack for playing my cards wisely and racking up on network growth. But the thought occurred I don’t have to lock in a meet-and-greet schedule to connect with important or cool people.

So what’s the conference attendee formula for winging your way through the game and racking in the friendship chips? Here are the five things that will help me at BWE this week:
