The next three weeks or so are going to be incredibly busy for me. But that normally means I’m going on the road and I get a chance to meet many of you in person, see you again if we’ve already met and perhaps even hang out for a while and have some valuable off-line social networking. Because there’s just so much going on this month, I wanted to spell it all out here and make sure you didn’t miss me if I’m coming to your town.

Here’s my schedule for the next few weeks. If I’m close, please do come see me. I’d love for you to attend these events, but even if we just connect on Twitter so that a Tweetup or similar informal gathering is in the offing, I’ll be pumped to meet you.

Thoroughbred PRSA Monthly Luncheon

My home peeps in Lexington, Ky., and I will gather at Carrabba’s at Hamburg for good grub and a fun talk tomorrow (Tuesday) for lunch. I’ll be discussing The No B.S. Guide to Social Media Measurement and explain what I mean when I say that it isn’t always about ROI. I’ve not spoken to the Lexington PRSA folks before, even though I spent several years as a PR professional in that market, so I’m really looking forward to seeing some old friends and having some fun in my old stomping grounds.

The unGeeked Elite Roast of Chris Brogan

Wednesday (May 11), I’ll be in Chicago to perform roastmaster duties at the unGeeked Elite Celebrity Charity Roast of my good friend Chris Brogan. The event is primarily a fund-raiser for Sit-Stay-Read — a literacy charity that incorporates the use of animals into the strategy to help kids learn. Since I’m a literacy advocate and sit on the Board of Directors of the National Center for Family Literacy, this is a charity I can get behind in a big way. The secondary reason for the night is for us to pay tribute to Chris, who has been a mentor and friend to many of us through the years. I hope that part of the evening shines through the roast part. ‘Cause I’m ready with some playful jabs and silliness. To those of you who will surely ask, no the event is not being live streamed. Context is critical at a comedy event and not being there in person could make an innocent comment in fun an insult that really upsets folks. So in order to participate in the fun, you have to come. All it takes is being in Chicago Wednesday night and a $50 donation to Sit-Stay-Read.

unGeeked Elite

One of my favorite industry conferences to attend and speak at is C.D. Vann‘s unGeeked Elite. This one, in Chicago Thursday through Saturday (May 12-14), is sure to be even better than the two previous ones I’ve attended (Milwaukee and Toronto). C.D.’s format is more intimate, less about presentations and more focused on discussions, and gives the exclusive attendees (attendance is capped) more meat to the bone than the typical conference format. I’ll be talking about asking better questions in our social media marketing, overall marketing and just daily lives, to drive smarter decisions and crisper insights. It’ll be fun.

PRSA Nashville

Next Tuesday, May 17, I’ll be in Nashville, Tenn., to talk to the PRSA Chapter there about creating a content strategy for social media efforts. We’ll dive into the differences in content channels and how blanket approaches aren’t optimal and how public relations pros can divide and conquer while also being creative in their content efforts. I’m really looking forward to this spot. Nashville has a soft spot in my heart and the PRSA Chapter there is incredibly active and big. Fun times in Nashvegas!

Exploring Social Media Business Summit Toledo

My own event will be the very next day, May 18, in Toledo, Ohio. I’m proud to bring a lineup of knock-out speakers to Toledo to talk about social media strategy and content marketing for the communications and business professional. Joe Pulizzi, Allen Mireles, Erik Deckers, Chris Baggott and more headline an all-day summit that is attracting folks from Cleveland, Detroit, Fort Wayne, Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati. We’ve still got spots left, but are closing in on selling out our space, so register now and attend. The price of admission ($249.00 with a $50 price break if you’re a member of Ad Club of Toledo, PRSA Toledo or IABC Cleveland) includes breakfast and lunch and a one-month trial membership to ExploringSocialMedia.com for you or a colleague better suited.

BlogWorld & New Media Expo

Exploring Social Media (and thus Social Media Explorer) is going to BlogWorld as a media partner and exhibitor. Jess Ostroff and I will be hanging on the trade show floor (allegedly) talking about ESM and hanging out with all of you in New York City from May 24-27. I’ll be giving a talk on brands and blogs and we’ll kick off BlogWorld East with a number of neat parties and fun networking events as well. Come hang with us in the Big Apple! Register and use the coupon code “SMEVIP” and you’ll get an extra 20% off the cost of your ticket!

Needless to say, it’ll be a busy month. I hope I can catch you here, there or somewhere! And if you can’t make it, pass on the event news to the folks you know in those cities. The more the merrier is my preference.

See you soon!
